Thank you for posting this, gained gf credit.
To anyone like me who doesn't understand what this means, The Tortured Poets Department is an album she released apparently this morning. It has now been revealed that it's a double album with The Anthology being the second half. As with all TS albums (other than Evermore) I'm ready to not like it at first and then start loving it a few years from now.
This is more interesting because the first album was leaked yesterday or possibly the day before idk. The second album is a surprise.
Going through the album right now, it's so good! Been really enjoying it, but I'll go through it again when I'm less tired.
The album itself is good but I REALLY wish she'd release these secret drops on vinyl, I'm still waiting for Midnights: 3AM on vinyl. :(
I was really hoping for a CD release of The Anthology.
Judging by midnights we might not get it :/ I'm hoping we do though, I like having things on vinyl!
As a poetry lover, a Taylor Swift fan, and a 1975 fan, a double album is a dream.
I can’t tell if I genuinely believe she could get some nominations for literary awards or if that’s just me getting swept up in the moment.
Looking forward to picking over this album for months to come. I know a lot of people are skeptical of Taylor Swift because of how commercial she is but the woman can really write a song. I’ve teared up multiple times already.
I haven’t listened yet, but I’m curious what, or I guess HOW does one encapsulate a year like 1975, especially if she wasn’t born yet? If anyone can, I guess Taylor’s the one. Surely it’s not a disco album though; can you elaborate?
I respect Taylor’s consistently beautiful songwriting (something most can’t or won’t do these days), singing, and playing instruments. I started as one of her country fans and I’ve loved the journey so far. Her businesswoman prowess really showed with the Eras film deal. I don’t care for her acting, yet, but like anything she does I’m sure I’ll come around!
Have a nice listening day & Friday! :D
The 1975 is a band that is (fronted?) by Matt Healy, who Taylor briefly dated a year ago. A couple of the songs on the album seem to be aimed at him (which is kinda surprising to me because they dated for only a couple of months iirc. There's some venom in her lyrics which I'm really enjoying, though I'm also not a 1975 fan.
I feel so dumb right now. Admittedly I don’t follow the dating lore, but I’ve heard of The 1975 at some point, though I can’t tell you what they sing. My mind did not envision that when I read it lol. Thank you.
