I don’t read many books, fiction even less and virtually never write about them. But I really enjoyed mysterious but calming halls of The World.

I kind of expected that The World would be unhappy about growing tensions between its children and that The Tides would just destroy everything, including House itself. I’m glad that did not happen and that characters were able to return there.

There were few themes that really stood out to me:

    1. Being alone and feeling lonely. Piranesi had no problem being alone most of the time away from The Other. But loneliness really sank in when he knew that he was completely alone unless 16 is visiting him.
    2. Empathy, curiosity and gratitude. While Mathew lost many years of his life, as Piranesi he grew to be very empathetic, curious and grateful for The World and all of its inhabitants. All these traits were not forgotten when he returned to The Other World. I think he indeed found the Great and Secret Knowledge.
    3. How people can adapt to their circumstances and environment. Book was released during pandemic and author herself was struggling even prior to that. But in hard times there is nothing else to do except to keep going.

I see here quite negative feedback towards these sites. While I agree that they are not ideal source for seasoned tech people, but we should never forget how many of us get there. These sites are very valuable to people that are trying to understand new concepts and get into tech, they don't need complete information, not even always absolutely correct. It needs to be good enough, engaging enough to help people progress in their journey. I can't remember last time I've checked SO and similar, but I can really remember how many years ago I looked into these sites and how much they helped me to stay motivated! These sites are stepping stones for I believe quite a lot of people.

And these sites offer some kind of map, guidance and links to new unknowns. So I would argue that they are more useful than just plain AI response.

For example, for /r/gaming, not only Gaming@beehaw.org instance should be noted, but also others, like Gaming@lemmy.ml.
