You'd think so, but they that's actually not the case. Phones handle them slightly better (based on a 32ohm DT-880), but not great. They are just not particularly sensitive headphones.

I think there are a few big things that stick out to me from your post.

First thing is that the SHP9500 are generally considered great "for the price" (much like the KZ ZSN Pro), but that doesn't mean they are necessarily great overall or going to satisfy everyone. I'm not personally a fan of the SHP9500 (no any KZ I've owned), but I've been spoiled by higher end headphones.

Second, these have a very, very different sound signature than the KZs. That they're over ear open back headphones is a big part of it, but they are also just tuned differently. Even if they were properly powered (I suspect yours are not), they may just not be to your liking.

I'd recommend listening to them, and only them, for your week having them and then switch back to your KZs and see how you feel. You may need some time to acclimate to their sound and when you go back to your standbys, you'll possibly then notice things that you like.

I concur, stock MX50s have never been particularly comfortable IMO, especially compared to a full sized Beyerdynamic. Edit: The DT-770s or open back kin are NOT a good fit to be driven by a phone.

We'll have to agree to disagree on "it's fine to make breaking changes". Sticking with an older and unsupported version of a hosted language is asking for security issues.

I'd probably have preferred it to me opt-in and be something more like strict mode in JavaScript to keep it from breaking existing code bases.

I'm trying out V Rising on Steam since it just graduated from Early Access. It isn't what I expected based on vague reviews, but I am enjoying it. I was expecting a more vampire themed survival/building sandbox game (e.g. Valheim, but as a vampire instead of a viking), but it feels more like the PS1 game Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, but with co-op and base building. It's a pretty interesting game and fairly challenging, but half the challenge thus far is the clunky UI and lacking tutorial. I'm still trying to convince others to play as I think it will shine more in co-op.

I agree 100% on the original trilogy, I saw all but the original in theatres (was too young for that one), but I feel completely the opposite for the prequels which I also saw in the theater. I saw Episode One on my birthday and it was so bad that it ruined my birthday. I thought Two was better than One, but still disappointing, and Three was the best of the bunch and would have been remembered better had they not ruined it in the last 20 seconds by the infamous "Nooooooooooooooooooo".

I had one of these installed a few years back. I paid quite a premium as on paper it should have provided significant power savings. Honestly, it didn't live up to what I was told, not even close on the cost savings. As my garage was fulled enclosed and finished, I had also expected to reap the benefits of the air conditioning that the unit provided since the garage didn't stay cool as well as the rest of the home as it wasn't insulated quite as well, but the cooling it provided wasn't very effective. I hope they have improved a lot and/or lowered in price, otherwise this feels like a gift to the industry rather than a boon for the efficiency.

Generally speaking, no good dedicated headphone output should do or even be capable of that "blow them up" effect unless they are faulty or you are pairing some extraordinarily sensitive IEMs with an amp . Even the most high end headphone outputs should be pushing single digit watts or less, so I'd be more concerned with making sure you don't damage your ears. In the rare cases that you'd consider connecting headphones to a more powerful source like a speaker output, you'd use a resistor to severely limit the power.

As to your question, I think you may be mistaken about what impedance matching means for headphones. It does not mean they should be the same number. The source (amp output) impedance should ideally be lower than the headphone impedance (the rule of thumb I see thrown around is generally a 1:8 or 1:10 ratio). If they are too close or the headphone is higher than the amp, it can lead to some coloration of the sound. That doesn't mean they won't work, it just means that the sound you're hearing may not be exactly how it should, which is obviously important for audio work.

I'm not any sort of audio engineer, I just like headphones so don't take my word as gospel. Please look around at other sources , but here are a few links from a quick web search that may do a better job explaining than I can.

The HHKB has been around a really long time and they don't really market it anymore these days. All of the Topre made keyboards are high quality, very solid, and should last a long time.

One thing to keep in mind though is that the HHKB is not programmable nor can you (easily) change the switches like you can with an MX based hotswappable board. It might be worth seeing if you can try one out before you shell out the nearly $300 an HHKB costs.

I am not a fan of Topre (though I did rather enjoy my 55g Realforce 87u for its sheer build quality), but I am really glad to see a new group buy for these caps and I hope they do well enough to sustain some interest. Getting custom caps for Topre, buckling spring, or Alps caps has always been very challenging. Even though I'm not a perspective buyer as my only remaining EC dome board uses MX stems, I don't know how I feel about the URSA profile. It's looks too close to the SA or MT3 for my liking. I have tried to enjoy the really high profile caps, and they look great, but I don't think they feel great to type on. I wish they had gone with something more medium height like the newer KAT or ASA profiles (there are way too many of these profiles now).
