I see part of the problem being semantics and a lack of proper terminology. There is a distinct connection between hot dogs, tacos, and sandwiches but we don't have a taxonomical word for the order/family/genus to describe that connection and therefore a subset of people revert to that word being "sandwich."

And now that I've made two comments on it, I, too, hate the naval-gazyness of these internet arguments.

You are eating some weird french toast and bread pudding.

French toast is not a sandwich because you aren't taking an egg mixture and surrounding it with bread (which would be a sub category of sandwich, the dumpling... or is a sandwich a broken dumpling?) you are surrounding the bread with an egg mixture. You could, however, reasonably call two pieces of french toast surrounding a filling a french toast sandwich, of which, I think you could reasonably expect a fair few Instagram followers for.

Bread pudding on the other hand is clearly a salad or, if you forgot to measure your liquid, a hearty soup. Unless you pan fry a slice of bread pudding to create the outer layers of a sandwich, but that would be transformative of the bread pudding itself.

I think it's a bad faith engagement either way. They aren't "engaging" with Trump, he's engaging with them. He's the one speaking, regardless of their little "ten theses." Even if libertarians are as naive as you (or I) perceive them to be, I can't imagine their whole party leadership/community choosing this for anything other than the publicity "Trump is talking to us so we are a valid party." Or perhaps, more cynically, they are hoping to announce Trumps speech, then release their top ten list causing Trump to cancel. Then they can say "Look how legit we are, we stuck to our high horses and the establishment couldn't handle it.

I would suspect, and I may be wrong here, but the two numbers are different. Royalties would be paid out on a per-play basis while Spotify also pays out large chunks of money to record labels, artists, and other rights holders for other reasons, such as having the library available on Spotify or potentially for certain special deals that Spotify makes with specific artists to pay out higher royalty rates. If you were The Beatles rightsholder you could probably get a better deal than 15% and if you were Warner Music, you can probably just ask for a billion up front.

Worse, I see and hear a lot of people who view marriage counseling as "the end." Like "Oh their marriage is doomed, didn't you hear, they are in counseling."

Relationship counseling is the best and, kind of in alignment with Boojum below, I think that being able to go to an outside source, yes, even a religious based one (should they broadly align with your worldview) is amazingly helpful. I know so many couples who probably could have worked things out if they had ever actually talked to each other and a therapist is very helpful for that. All the most successful couples I know have utilized some form of counseling.

I'm editing to add in: I like the list of questions but, man, y'all should really talk about these things LOOOONG before marriage, there's so many fundamental things in those questions that can help define relationships.

I think that we, the tech-literate, more serious gamers, Tildes users, under value and underpopulate this demographic when we think about how people game. The five or so people I game with regularly are in the same demographic as me (and probably many of us having this conversation): decently specced gaming PC and a Nintendo Switch. But when I talk to people outside of that immediate group I am commonly surprised with how many of my friends own a PS5 only for one or two games (and not even the "exclusives"!) For someone who just wants to play FIFA, a computer seems inscrutable.

That being said, one legitimate gripe is that they keep releasing PS5 games on the PS4, which means you are really only getting PS4 games and this late into a console generation that just kinda sucks. Sure "it's really just downscaling graphics" but it still probably hold back developers.

Honestly, I'm with you. I think it's a fine game but I really don't get the hype. I am glad people are having fun with it but I refunded it pretty quickly because I just wasn't vibing on it. I have too little time to play with my friends to play a game I'm not into, I don't like playing this style game with randos and my friends can all play when I'm not available.
I'm probably over-exposed to the hype (like three+ articles a day in the google news feed for me) so I try not to rail against it too hard but man, I personally don't get it.

I'm unsure what "core casuals" are available. Most of the gaming casuals I know are marginally aware of PC gaming... maybe know about the Steam Deck. They don't even know the ROG Ally exists and that's before getting into slightly more niche markets such as the Playdate. Casuals are perfectly happy with their Playstations, Xboxes, and Switches or their phones. I mean, good luck to them but the marketing budget alone is nearly unfathomable to make it to the eyes of "casual gamers."

Although I largely agree with your post, I don't think there is much moral/ethical philosophizing necessary. In normal economics there is a space (generally the left side of a graph of supply/demand curves) where demand is higher than supply. Kinder economists will call it something along the lines of "space for a grey market" while less kind (or more realistic) economists will call it something like "the crime zone." As landlords shift their supply curve right, that crime zone only gets larger and, unlike razor blades at Target, housing just kinda sits out in the open. Squatting in this case is just normal economic activity.
All that being said, fuck corporatist landlords.
